Walking into nearly any major chain retail store, a gamer may find a vast swath of peripherals for the Nintendo Wii gaming system. Some may be overpriced, while others are mere dollars for a set of add on goodies. Mostly, these cheap knock offs do just the same quality job, if not better, than their official counterparts. Over the years, I have personally collected and have been gifted many of these add-ons and accessories, some of which were bought for dirt cheap while browsing the clearance section of many assorted retailers. Some of which even include local supermarkets!
First up on our list of Wii peripherals, is in the Zapper category. Nintendo promotes the official "Wii Zapper" for use in all FPSs and on rails shooters, to which the company even included an exclusive game, "Link's Crossbow Training".
The use of this add-on can be a little hard on the webbing of your hands if you tend to be of bigger build, especially due to the location of the Nun Chuck add on. The peripheral works for what it was intended for, with an added bonus of cable storage of the Nun Chuck add on. It just takes a bit of time getting used to, and so does the general shape of the controller.
There is, however, an alternative that is comparable and much friendlier to the FPS audience. The "Wii Perfect Shot" gun by Nyko sports a much better overall form factor, as it takes on the shape of an actual firearm.
The Perfect Shot is very easy on the hands, as the ergonomic pistol grip allows for long term gaming with no discomfort. When coupled with the Wireless Kama, (by the same company), the Perfect Shot is an excellent alternative for those who want realism and are budget minded.
